Located above Gaucho in Dubai’s DIFC, Indie gets the balance between lounge bar and restaurant just right.
If you’re looking for somewhere that combines great live music, a wonderful drinks selection and excellent food with a relaxed but funky vibe then you’ve found your spot.
During our visit we started off with a selection of ‘small plates’ which we shared. It’s that kind of place – tailor-made for an enjoyable night of ‘eat, drink, chat’ with friends. The menu has a bit of everything, mainly leaning towards Asian, American and Italian.
Our journey began with lime crab on toasted crackers, crispy duck pancakes and the star of the show, spicy tuna on rice cubes. The starters were so good we had to debate for a while as to whether or not to move onto the mains, or just to work our way through the entire small plates selection. In the spirit of editorial duty we decided that move on we must.
Next up was roasted sea bream with Mediterranean crushed potatoes and lime, and grilled prime beef fillet sprinkled with rock salt, figs and balsamic drizzle.
To round a lovely evening off was some coconut passion – panna cotta with coconut, passion fruit and berries.
The food was top notch but it’s the vibe of Indie that really stands out. It really is a one stop shop in that you don’t need to move on somewhere else after your meal – everything is there for the perfect night out.
We visited on an Offbeat Wednesday night, which features the best international live acts. There’s also a Retro night on Fridays promising the best of ’80s, ’90s and 2000s pop, hard rock, disco which we’ll be checking out in the near future. Definitely worth a visit.
