Around 250 fitness enthusiasts participated in a unique fitness challenge last weekend – The ContiFit Challenge –organised by German tyre manufacturer, Continental.

Forming the centrepiece of Continental’s 150th anniversary celebrations in the UAE, the ContiFit Challenge allowed attendees to take part in a series of high impact challenges at Al Qudra Last Exit in Dubai.

Participants in the ContiFit Challenge competed in a 150-metre course featuring tyre-based obstacle fitness challenges, including a plank walk, tyre flip, crawl and sprint. Competitors were scored and ranked against the time that was taken to successfully complete all the challenge workouts, with awards for the top three winners in two categories: amateur and professional.

Top of the men’s amateur group was Hansley, who completed the challenge in 1 minute, 9.99 seconds, with Maria Hanczuch of the women’s amateurs finishing at 1:53:00. The professionals had a bit more work to do with extra weight to shift – the winner of the men’s professional fitness challenge was fitness influencer and personal trainer, Jamal Bright Kodjo, with an impressive time of 1:33:10; while the women’s pro winner, Mary Grace Porto, recorded a time of exactly 2 minutes.

Jamal Bright Kodjo, the winner of the professional group in the ContiFit Challenge said: “It was a great experience taking part and seeing so many different people turn up. The event was suitable for everyone – with families and friends coming out to support each other during the different challenges. I’m looking forward to any future activity from Continental to see what types of challenges and obstacles will be added.”

Mostafa Farouk, Marketing Manager at Continental Middle East said: “The inaugural ContiFit Challenge was extremely well supported, and the atmosphere among the participants was great; it was lovely to experience this 150th anniversary celebration with our friends and colleagues.
