A company full of grand ambitions, a roster of talented gamers, a schedule of hugely successful leagues and an audience waiting (not so patiently!) for more action, PLG, the Middle East’s leading independent eSports provider is proud to announce the PLG Grand Slam. Arriving as the first global eSports event hosted in the Middle East, this week long championship will see the best of the best from the Middle East’s gaming talent battle not only each other, but world-renowned International talent on a global stage.
Backed by investment from loyal and fresh new partners, PLG will set the stage to provide a platform to the next generation of eSports competitors in the region to move to the global stage. And that is not all that is at stake – the PLG Grand Slam is also offering a 200,000 USD base prize pool to support its tournaments alongside a whole raft of hospitality and benefits to talent, media and esports enthusiasts.
PLG has spent the last 5 years operating and creating eSports tournaments and events, both online and live for publishers and brands, but has not gone to the next stage of developing its own independent esports series from A to Z, until now. Having produced players from the Middle East region that feature in the highest-ranking leagues in the world, this fact alone have given the PLG the reassurance that the time is right to amplify this talent and nurture future generations of talented, professional gamers.
You might be wondering, how does the eSports calendar lead into the PLG Grand Slam? PLG will drive all its competitions both first and third party, owned and white label to one major live final, starting this week and continuing up until the Grand Slam in December.
John Lacey states, “In order to achieve a critical mass of participation, exposure, media interest, sponsorship and ROI we needed to focus and streamline the dialogue with all parties. There is only one focus now, to make PLG Grand Slam the best possible eSports platform for talent in the region and be recognized for the same locally and internationally.”
The season for each of PLG’s partnered franchises begins at a grass roots level with free to enter, amateur, unmonetized leagues that are called the PLG Nationals. These are now in their 3rd season played online, allowing players to cycle into the pool of talent headed to PLG Grand Slam.
The second way to join the PLG Grand Slam 2018 is to play at one of the many PLG Arena’s that are produced as stand-alone events for a limited number of participants. The events allow fresh and existing talent to experience a very different level of pressure when performing in front of a live audience.
PLG also offer strategic programs such as PLG City Heroes with Vox Cinema and the PLG Academy. John comments ‘We have 5 years of knowledge creating and driving very strategic consumer focused initiatives such as Coca-Cola’s “Fanta Masters” that have given invaluable insight and expertise into how you engage consumers, drive equity back to your brand and partners, and deliver direct and indirect value, while of course being fun for gamers to participate in and be recognized.’
