FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2018 calls for volunteers to take the field

The FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2018 today kicks off its Volunteer Programme, which gives UAE residents the chance to play a key role in delivering one of the world’s top club tournaments.

The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2018 is seeking 1000+ volunteers to take on a variety of roles in the build-up to, and during, the tournament which takes place from 12-22 December in Al Ain and Abu Dhabi. The only qualification restriction: applicants must be over the age of 16.

Registering for the programme will provide volunteers a unique opportunity to nurture their talents, learn new skills and be at the heart of this world-class event. The tournament will see six continental club champions and UAE host team Al Ain FC come together to battle for the crown of best club side on the planet.

With less than 100 days to go until the opening match of the tournament between Al Ain FC and New Zealand’s Team Wellington FC at Al Ain’s Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium, the LOC is calling on the country’s best and brightest to join the club and take on some exciting roles.

His Excellency Aref Hamed Al Awani, Tournament Director of the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2018, Local Organising Committee (LOC), said: “Volunteers are at the heart of the tournament and are key to the success of the event. The programme is a great opportunity for participants to develop their talents, learn new skills and play an important role in showcasing the UAE as a world-class host of major sporting events.

Mohammad Al Shatiri, head of the Volunteer Programme: “The Volunteer Programme for the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2017 was a great success and we hope to raise the bar for this year’s tournament. We are proud to offer this opportunity to the young people of the UAE—a chance for them to meet new people and play a leading role in a world-class event while continuing their personal development. It is rewarding to see people so willing to help.”

Mohammad Sayed Ishaq Ramshi, aged 29, from UAE, who volunteered in 2017, said: “I have a strong passion for the game and volunteering gave me a chance to contribute to the success of the tournament by getting involved behind the scenes. I met some great people and I encourage more people to sign up. It is an experience you will never forget.”

Volunteers who register for the program will be assigned a role in one of six areas: accreditation, competition, marketing, media, protocol and venue management.
