Joie De Vivre at La Mome

La Mome

Entering the Dubai’s latest culinary hot-spot, La Môme is like stepping back in time to 1950s Paris.

Situated on the 49th floor of the Nassima Royal Hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road is rustic and cosy and yet achingly cool and stylish at the same time – all vintage lighting and red velvet covered seating with a young a trendy waiting staff that keep the service perfectly in time with the funky beat of the place.

Think of the Dixieland jazz club featured Roger Avary’s Killing Zoe and you’ve got the right kind of vibe, but here the stunning views of Dubai’s ultra-modern skyline create a wonderful visual contrast. The restaurant’s name is actually a reference to the nickname of French cabaret singer Édith Piaf, which means ‘the little sparrow.’And while the restaurant’s name is actually a reference to the nickname of French cabaret singer Édith Piaf, which means ‘the little sparrow.’ And while roasted pigeon is one of the menu options, along with French classic such as escargots, beef bourguignon and steak tartar, we opted to sample Executive Chef Johann Dudemain’s ‘lighter options menu’.

For starters we tried the scallop carpaccio and red mullet fillets which were both deliciously delicate, before moving on to mains of tasty poached turbot and perfectly cooked tender beef fillet.

The combination of great food and beverages served in an entertaining atmosphere with stylish ambience make La Môme a welcome addition to Dubai’s dining scene.
