The creators and producers of Fighting Fit Dubai, the award-winning UAE-based reality TV show that follows a group of everyday men and women on a physical and mental journey into the world of amateur boxing, are putting out a last call for contestants for what will be the show’s biggest season yet. Thanks to an exciting new deal between show producers, Nomad Productions and global sports media giant ESPN, the new season’s 28-episodes will be streamed on ESPN.com, opening contestants and their fitness journeys up to an international audience of up to 3.2 million viewers monthly.
With applications still open online until 24th February, producers are also expecting the cast of the show’s third season to be its most diverse yet. Male and female contenders between 25 and 57 years of age who have never fought as a white collar, amateur or professional boxer in a boxing match, can apply online by visiting Fighting Fit Dubai social channels (@fightingfitDXB). All those who apply and meet the basic criteria will be invited to initial trials which start on 1 March. Over its past two seasons, the homegrown series has seen contestants transform not only physically, but also mentally.
Phil Griffiths, Director of Fighting Fit Dubai and Co-Founder of Nomad Productions stressed the importance of getting a group which represents the diversity of the city – from any nationality, and all fitness levels – for its third season: “We have seen first-hand the positive impact the show has had on contestants from the first two seasons, and while we have always had an equal split of men and women, we want more than ever this year, as we open up the show to a wider audience through ESPN.com, to share the diversity of Dubai with the world.”
On the new season of Fighting Fit Dubai, potential contestants will battle through six weeks of gruelling training and challenges, leading to a final Fight Night on 26 April at Zabeel House by Jumeirah, The Greens, which will determine the winning team. From trials beginning on March 1st, two teams of six people and 12 reserves will be selected, with teams facing weekly challenges and showdowns in the ring, not only fighting for glory but for their chance to stay in the show. Episodes of the action will start to be aired on ESPN.com from 17 March, with three episodes appearing weekly until 5th May, when nightly episodes of each Fight Night bout will be uploaded for one full week until 11 May.
The third season of the series will again see a legion of elite trainers and mentors, including Dan Costello, Waleed ‘Dynamite’ Din and Joe Ackery, oversee contender training ,which will include general fitness and boxing at gyms that include Real Boxing Only Gym and GymNation. Contestants will be provided with access to a nutritionist and six-weeks’ worth of meals from Fuel-Up by Kcal, the first meal prep company in the UAE dedicated to the performance and physique focused to ensure their full transformation from the average resident to elite boxer. as
