Oman is set for another week of world-class golfing action as the Sultanate prepares to welcome a plethora of European Tour stars for the second edition of the Oman Open – the fourth tournament on the Desert Swing – which gets underway at the stunning Al Mouj Golf from February 28 – March 3.
The tournament, which last year welcomed over 3,000 spectators, players, staff and officials, will feature Ryder Cup stars David Howell and Chris Wood along with a host of European Tour winners including Chris Paisley, Bernd Wiesberger and 2018 Oman Open winner Joost Luiten. The event, which is the biggest professional sporting event ever held in Oman, has returned for a second year thanks to the support of some prestigious sponsors in the region along with inward investment from Abu Dhabi and Thailand highlighting the global appeal of the tournament.
The world-class event is being supported by Platinum Sponsors Al Mouj, Occidental of Oman, OSCO and Gulf Energy as well as Gold Sponsors CCED, Kempinski Hotel Muscat, Omante, PTT, PLC, Rolex, Sohar International and Wicked Tents.
In the Silver category are OOCEP, Oman LNG, PDO, Tecnicas Reunidas and Sohar Port & Freezone while AVIS, Abeer, Flow Solutions, Oman Gas Company, Petrogas, Sohar Aluminium, Europcar, Titleist, WSP Global and Zahara Tours are Supporting Sponsors of the tournament.
Mundhir Al Barwani, Chairman of the Oman Golf Committee, said:
“The hosting of such a high-profile event, which will be broadcast around the globe to a household television reach of 400 million, is only possible with investment from sponsors. The business community in Oman has recognised the benefits of hosting this fantastic tournament, with last year’s event injecting US$ 5 million into the local community during tournament week, and has once again supported us in bringing the 2019 Oman Open to the Sultanate.”
The hotly anticipated tournament takes place at Al Mouj Golf from Thursday February 28 – Sunday March 3rd. Entry is free of charge for spectators.
