AFC Asian Cup 2019: India’s coach hopes UAE-based fans can be 12th player

National coach of the Indian football team, Stephen Constantine, has made a final rallying cry to have the full support from all Indian residents living in the UAE as his team prepares for the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference ahead the opening match between India and Thailand on January 6th at the Al Nahyan stadium in Abu Dhabi, Constantine said; “We have 3 million Indians in the UAE and we ask them to support the team. If they turn out they will be the player number 12 and I am sure my boys are ready to give all what it takes to win the game. We are here with mentality of winning and not of draw or playing to minimise score.”

India will field the youngest team their nation’s history and the second youngest in this AFC Asian Cup tournament. India open their campaign against Thailand, in the second match of Group A, against Thailand with kick-off at 17.30 at Al Nahyan stadium. India’s second match will see them face host nation the UAE on Thursday 10th January at 20.00 in Zayed Sports City.
